Parent Signature a signature implicit within a prevailing signature. (see) Accidentals applied within a section may imply a different key. Thus, in the key of C minor, if ‘A-flat’ is canceled and an ‘F-sharp’ added, the key of G minor may be assumed and is implicit. (see JS Bach Kleine Praeludium #3 from the group of twelve, where from measure 16 to the end is in the parent signature of ‘G’ minor.
