Cadence (It) From cadere; to fall. The conclusion of a phrase. Comparable to the spoken language, ‘John ran home.’; subject-verb-object. In music, the chords on ‘II-V-I’, ‘II-V-VI’, ‘IV-I’, etc.. Also any indication of a comparable comma, period, colon, semi-colon, etc. by way of phrase marks, chord progressions, etc. that form a sense of a conclusion.
